We’re delighted to share that Scriba has been named Technology StartUp of the Year for the South West at the UK StartUp Awards and was also recognised in the Innovate UK Women in Innovation Awards 2026.
Scriba wouldn’t exist without the many people who have supported our journey so far and this recognition gives us a chance to thank them and to reflect on why we built Scriba in the first place.
The problem we set out to solve
Behind every board and committee meeting, there’s a huge amount of invisible work: clerks, governance professionals, administrators and senior leaders preparing papers, writing minutes, and chasing actions. As budgets tighten and admin resource shrinks, that work doesn’t go away, it just spreads into evenings and weekends. For anyone supporting multiple boards or complex governance requirements it can be a massive drain on time, with a significant impact on workload and wellbeing.
Where we started and where we’re headed
Scriba was initially built for schools and multi-academy trusts, where governance pressures are particularly acute. Since launching in September 2025, we’ve grown to support over 700 schools and multi-academy trusts as well as a range of organisations in other sectors. By automating the time-consuming parts of meeting administration – producing minutes faster, keeping actions on track, and supporting better decision-making – Scriba has been described as “a game changer” for the time it gives back to staff and teams.
Built with the people who live the problem
None of this happened in isolation. Scriba was developed in partnership with governance professionals and senior leaders who understood the daily reality of meeting administration and this recognition belongs just as much to the people across the sector who shared their experience and helped shape Scriba from the very beginning.
That collaborative approach has the ability to genuinely solve some of the most pressing problems from the ground up. Tom Adeyoola, Executive Chair of Innovate UK, said of this year’s Women in Innovation cohort:

What’s next
These awards are a welcome recognition of the work so far, but we’ve still got lots to do! Our focus remains the same: helping organisations spend less time on meeting administration, and more time on the work that actually matters.
